Term One
WILFORD SCHOOL
INQUIRY LEARNING
At Wilford School “Enquiry Learning” is based on the “SQUIDRING” MODEL:
· Searching
· Questioning
· Understanding
· Identifying, interviewing, informing
· Diving Deeper
· ReflectING
It is a model for teaching students to search, sift, sort and share information and then follow it up with an action plan to put into practice and reflect how well this action plan has been carried out. It follows on, and is underpinned by, “Building Learning Power and “Quality Learning in a Quality School” from the “Choice Theory Model.” It is also closely linked to the two previous year’s professional development in “Gifted and Talented.”
As we see the Inquiry Learning as the art of creating situations in which students see themselves as scientists, we are planning our first theme around MOVEMENT and ending in a Science Fair. This will take place next term.
